A floral white and gold stucco ceiling adds a touch of neorococo elegance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sit on the left side as you go in to enjoy views of the former Hotel Kummer, built in 1870 in the historical style. Redevelopment work ended in 2021, with the building reopening as a new hotel with a striking roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(The operator describes the Hotel Motto as &#8220;Paris meets 1920s Vienna&#8221;.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike some of its ilk, Caf\u00e9 Ritter is not a place of hushed reverence, but rather one of quiet bustle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"center\"><em>Ad:<\/em><br><\/div><div data-tiqets-widget=\"discovery\" data-cards-layout=\"horizontal\" data-slug-ids=\"exp206741,exp238032\" data-partner=\"visitingvienna\" data-tq-campaign=\"DA_ConcTour\"><\/div><script defer src=\"https:\/\/widgets.tiqets.com\/loader.js\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As my morning there progressed, mothers and daughters, groups of friends, and shoppers replaced business folk and elderly gentlemen at the tables. The service was fast, and friendly in the time-honoured traditional Viennese sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otherwise, Caf\u00e9 Ritter ticks all the usual boxes: marbled tabletops, worn wooden chairs, a selection of newspapers, cakes, pastries, coffee specialties, and a quite traditional coffee house food menu with light snacks and meals. I like to think he paid his tab with a watercolour or two and sometimes entered Edgar Allen Poe lookalike competitions. For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/eatingdrinking\/cafespubsbars\/cafe-jelinek\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"12518\">Caf\u00e9 Jelinek<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/eatingdrinking\/cafespubsbars\/cafe-sperl\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9714\">Caf\u00e9 Sperl<\/a> are both no more than a few minutes walk away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And one or two tourist attractions dot the neighbourhood, too, with many well suited to family entertainment.
