At the time of writing, for example, we have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My highlights<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/khm\/overview\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1446\">Kunsthistorisches Museum<\/a>&#8216;s big summer exhibition brings us views of Venice, London and Vienna, as captured on canvas by the 18th-century painters Canaletto and Bellotto<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/albertina-modern\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"21859\">Albertina Modern<\/a> showcases US artist KAWS in dialogue with works by modern and contemporary artists, and continues its Vasarely &#8211; Adrian double exhibition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/albertina\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2995\">Albertina<\/a>, the Richard Prince exhibition comes to an end (until August 16th), but the Helga Philipp exhibition carries on, as done the one featuring historical travel photography<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The big excitement at the Albertina, though, is for the exhibition exploring the origins and background of the collections: a rare chance to see D\u00fcrer&#8217;s <em>Young Hare<\/em>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This is your last opportunity to catch the solo exhibition for Anni Albers at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/lower-belvedere\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3384\">Lower Belvedere<\/a> (until August 16th), but the solo exhibition for avant garde artist Erna Rosenstein continues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It&#8217;s also your last chance to see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/heidi-horten-collection\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"47637\">Heidi Horten Collection<\/a>&#8216;s examination of the relationship between people and animals, as seen through the lens of modern and contemporary art (until August 30th)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Talking contemporary art, get an overview of the entire Viennese scene in a special exhibition at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/kunsthalle\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"22730\">Kunsthalle Wien<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the other end of the palace gardens, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/upper-belvedere-palace\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3521\">Upper Belvedere<\/a> takes a behind-the-scenes look at a couple of paintings by Johann Baptist Lampi the Elder and the Younger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"center\"><em>Ad:<\/em><br><\/div><div data-tiqets-widget=\"discovery\" data-cards-layout=\"horizontal\" data-slug-ids=\"exp206741,exp238032\" data-partner=\"visitingvienna\" data-tq-campaign=\"DA_ConcTour\"><\/div><script defer src=\"https:\/\/widgets.tiqets.com\/loader.js\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two special exhibitions for us at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/leopold-museum\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4014\">Leopold Museum<\/a>. Then find a seat to catch a bit of Sheeran or Tchaikovsky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fair few open-air cinemas usually fire up the popcorn machine come August. But it&#8217;s also a modern, diverse city with quite a few areas that weren&#8217;t actually built by a Habsburg monarch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/entertainment\/events\/calle-libre\/\">Calle Libre festival<\/a> (2026 dates TBA), for example, celebrates street art as a true art form, with the chance to watch those at the top of their profession creating giant murals and similar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/entertainment\/events\/gurtel-nightwalk\/\">G\u00fcrtel Nightwalk<\/a> (2026 dates TBA) highlights an urban regeneration success story: a stretch of the G\u00fcrtel road has become a popular nightspot for clubs, bars and venues. Enjoy plenty of African cuisine, too, as well as a bazaar and various info stands from NGOs working in and with the continent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two wine-themed events in August:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/entertainment\/events\/neustifter-kirtag\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"50947\">Neustifter Kirtag<\/a> (August 20th to 23rd) brings traditional Austrian garb, copious quantities of wine, live music and a street market to Vienna<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volxfest.at\/\">Stammersdorfer Weintage<\/a> (August 29th and 30th) has live music, a tractor parade, and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vienna&#8217;s established open-air markets offer extended opening hours and bonus entertainments on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wien.gv.at\/freizeit\/einkaufen\/maerkte\/lange-nacht-der-maerkte.html\">Long Night of Viennese Markets<\/a> (2026 dates TBA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Ottakringer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/entertainment\/events\/beer-festival-2\/\">beer festival<\/a> (runs throughout August until the 29th), with Ottakringer&#8217;s own traditional and craft beers, as well as food that goes well with a pint (or half a liter) on a balmy evening. OK, perhaps it&#8217;s more a place for drinking cocktails. These are working cellars, so you can&#8217;t just wander in happily waving your ice cream. Ships leave from moorings on the Donaukanal, for example, at the edge of the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plenty of tour operators will happily show you other options.
