All of which is rather apt, given Am Hof did actually host markets back in the late middle ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conveniently, the Am Hof market is just a tiny walk from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/eastermarkets\/freyung-ostermarkt\/\">Freyung<\/a>, home to another Easter market with a greater emphasis on egg decorations. People occupied the area even earlier: they often find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/culture\/vindobona\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"32729\">Roman remains<\/a> whenever any digging takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the buildings also look back on a rich history. One end of the square has, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/footsteps\/palais-collalto\/\">Palais Collalto<\/a>: site of Mozart&#8217;s first public performance in Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And a cannonball from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/culture\/the-1683-siege-of-vienna\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"29264\">1683 siege of Vienna<\/a> even hangs outside the front of what is now an insurance office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t you love history?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"opening-times-2022\">2026 dates &amp; times<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 market takes place from March 20th to April 6th.
