Or the swimming pool paintings that added his own distinctive twist to both our concept of LA and the traditional art motif of water and bathers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as a little bonus, spot a handful of preparatory studies, for example for the <em>Mr. and Mrs. Clark and Percy<\/em> work; the finished version also features in the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps it&#8217;s just a need in dark days, but I found myself drawn to Hockney&#8217;s more colourful works. Like <em>The Eleventh V. N. Painting<\/em> from 1992. Or 2008&#8217;s <em>Felled Trees on Woldgate<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Landscapes. Portraits. Nudes. Drawings. Videos. Digital art. The <em>A Rake&#8217;s Progress<\/em> (1961\u20131963) and <em>Cavafy<\/em> (1966) series of etchings. And more. Enjoy a journey through a creative life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dates, tickets &amp; tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>View Hockney&#8217;s works from February 10th to June 19th, 2022. The Kunstforum only opens fully during its major exhibitions, so a ticket to get inside is, essentially, a ticket for the Hockney exhibition. Be sure to pop downstairs, too, for a peek at the small Tresor exhibition space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hockney is not the only contemporary great in town. At the time of writing, the Albertina Modern has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/ai-weiwei-exhibition\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"44051\">Ai Weiwei exhibition<\/a> for much of the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And just to throw a slightly earlier, but equally resonant, name into the mix: the Albertina&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/edvard-munch-exhibition\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"39545\">Edvard Munch exhibition<\/a> starts just after Hockney, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to the Hockneys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Look at the bottom of the main <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/kunstforum-wien\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"21890\">Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien article<\/a> for travel tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The imposing building sits on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/freyung-2\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"29646\">Freyung<\/a> square, home to various noble townhouses, an abbey, and the constitutional court.
