My parents stayed in this hotel when they visited us one Christmas and were very happy with their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My dad would pop out in the early evening just to grab a quick bag of roast chestnuts from the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/rathauspark\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"84216\">Rathauspark<\/a> of the hotel name is the park that flanks the market. And, if you fancy a change from hotel food and drink, one of Vienna&#8217;s most renowned coffee houses sits opposite: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/eatingdrinking\/cafespubsbars\/cafe-central\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"10683\">Caf\u00e9 Central<\/a> (gorgeous interiors, but consider reserving a table as queues are guaranteed at this time of year).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Address: Herrengasse 12<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/at\/radisson-blu-style.html?aid=1164678\" rel=\"sponsored\">Hotel &amp; booking details<\/a>*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/herrenhof.jpg\" alt=\"Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof\" class=\"wp-image-43961\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/herrenhof.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/herrenhof-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">(Once home to Caf\u00e9 Herrenhof, which attracted writers and intellectuals like Franz Kafka)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As above in terms of location: the Radisson and Steigenberger practically adjoin each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Incidentally, Herrengasse also leads up to the giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sightseeing\/hofburg\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2708\">Hofburg<\/a> palace complex, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/spanishridingschool\/\">Spanish Riding School<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/winter-palace\/sisi-museum\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2539\">Sisi Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/schatzkammer\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"256\">Crown Jewels<\/a>, and other such attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That end of Herrengasse links to the central pedestrianised streets with their luxury brands and historical architecture. These connect all the way down to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/stefansdom\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"294\">Stephansdom cathedral<\/a> (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/christmasmarkets\/stephansplatz-christmas-market\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4379\">another market<\/a>). The rooms have no TVs or radios, for example; you do have WiFi, though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellent value for the incredibly central and historic location: the building actually backs onto the Freyung Christmas market on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/freyung-2\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"29646\">same-named square<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Benediktushaus also looks across to a baroque palais or two, not to mention various restaurants and Austria&#8217;s constitutional court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Address: Freyung 6a<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/at\/benediktushaus.en.html?aid=1164678&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" rel=\"sponsored\">Hotel &amp; booking details<\/a>*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flemings Selection Hotel Wien-City<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/flemings.jpg\" alt=\"Entry to the Fleming's hotel\" class=\"wp-image-71719\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/flemings.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/flemings-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">(A family-owned German &amp; Austrian chain)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not far behind the Rathaus in Josefstadt: a Viennese district that manages the trick of being both historical and trendy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, a short walk up the road takes you to the local theater, where they filmed parts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/songsfilms\/third-man-locations\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"31222\">The Third Man<\/a> and the curtains first parted over 230 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can stroll down to the Christkindlmarkt from here, but the number 2 tram stops very nearby. A legendary vehicle that seems to go everywhere. Like Flemings, handy for the magical and mysterious No. 2 tram, for whom time and space are meaningless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 4* hotel merged three primarily 19th-century houses into today&#8217;s premises.
