This notable coffee house remains popular today and even features as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/songsfilms\/vienna-blood-locations\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"22811\">location<\/a> in the Vienna Blood period detective series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, Eisler&#8217;s 1977 <em>Belfast<\/em> has two women seemingly returning from a shopping trip. And then you notice the dark huddle of soldiers to their left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One painting from 1969 simply has people running in a street. Another from 1972 has a similar theme, except these are people running through tear gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Eisler put it himself in a 1963 interview, his approach was to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u2026make the intervening spaces visible, the perspectival, emotional and mental spaces between figure and figure.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This process of artistic transfer seems like a graceful swan when viewed in terms of the end product: all ease and simplicity of brush stroke on top. Yet furious pedalling and hard work precedes the achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Eisler&#8217;s case, curator Kerstin Jesse uses his writings, sketches, and reflections (all of which we also see in this small exhibition) to illuminate the process leading to his paintings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tickets\">Tickets, dates &amp; tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Enjoy a closer look at this well-travelled Austrian artist and former student of Oskar Kokoschka between April 8th and September 25th, 2022 inside the Upper Belvedere palace. An entrance ticket to the location includes the exhibitions inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Belvedere has a few other artistic treats for you over much of the same time period, such as an exhibition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/true-to-life-exhibition\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"42088\">realist paintings<\/a> and Marc Quinn&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/marc-quinn-exhibition\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"40848\">remarkable sculptures<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And let us not forget Klimt&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/kiss\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1119\">The Kiss<\/a> (on permanent display along with numerous other works by Klimt). Coincidentally, Eisler was once president of the very same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/footsteps\/secession\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2119\">Vienna Secession<\/a> artist organisation originally founded by Klimt and colleagues back in 1897.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Eisler<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/sights\/museums\/belvedere-sites\/gettingthere3\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3402\">directions<\/a> for Upper Belvedere to catch the exhibition.
