As any glance at Netflix&#8217;s streaming listings shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I speak as a loyal admirer of Monkey D. Luffy, would-be King of the Pirates and star of the long-running <em>One Piece<\/em> manga, live action series, and lengthy anime series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devotees of anime and manga in Austria come together once a year to celebrate their fandoms in style at AniNite: a giant convention organised by AniManga Austria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What started as around 70 like-minded individuals in 2001 can now attract upwards of 25,000 visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite1.jpg\" alt=\"Manga book and ink art\" class=\"wp-image-73341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">(Manga has earned its place as an art movement too)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what can you find there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to my first event in 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/entertainment\/events\/dragons-demons-pac-man\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"74550\">and wrote about my experience<\/a>. But you can expect, for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An exhibitor hall for merchandise, games, media, accessories and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An artist alley with both fan art and original art<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Caf\u00e9s and food trucks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Special guests from the international anime, manga and content creation world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A range of other activities (workshops, competitions, films etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"339\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite2.jpg\" alt=\"AniNite 2024 mascots\" class=\"wp-image-73339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/aninite2-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">(The AniNite mascot from a previous event \u00a9 AniManga Austria)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Needless to say, the event also attracts masses of cosplayers, adding to the creative and colourful ambience of the convention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninite.at\/\">official website<\/a> for the programme and details once available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026 dates, tickets &amp; tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 AniNite runs across three days: August 7th to 9th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Last time out, opening times were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friday &amp; Saturday: 10am to 10pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday: 10am to 6pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>See that official website for ticket options, which you can pre-order during the advance sales period or buy on the door if capacities allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AniNite normally takes place in the Austria Center Vienna (ACV), a major congress and trade fair venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vienna&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/transport\/public\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"310\">public transport system<\/a> means the venue is easy and quick to reach from most of the city (see below), but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitingvienna.com\/accommodation\/hotels-austria-center\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"46676\">here some hotel recommendations<\/a> for those wishing to stay within walking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between, before and after event sessions, the local area has plenty to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The ACV adjoins the UN headquarters, for example. That station is 7 minutes from Stephansplatz station in Vienna&#8217;s centre.
