This presents such unsolved conundrums as the pyramids, Stonehenge, Mayan temples, and similar.

Think experience more than exhibition, though: you walk through over 1,100 m2 of rooms & stations with each featuring something interactive or immersive (or both).

To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s my review of 2025’s Planet Wildlife season…

Planet wildlife

(Interactive and competitive penguin feeding; press photo courtesy of and © IMMERSIUM:Wien)

In August 2025, I put on my safari hat and headed out into the world to discover stations that varied from immersive projections to full-blown rail-gripping fun.

Among many activities, you could for example:

Hop from rock to rock to avoid falling into volcanic lava or work as a group to stay afloat on an augmented reality iceberg

Match Intuit dance moves competitively (not to brag…OK, actually to brag…but I won this)

Interact with a screen walrus or feed virtual penguins

Watch a 15-minute film surrounding you with a 360° panorama of wildlife scenes and natural vistas

Take a ride on a vehicle through a safari with some close encounters of the animal kind

The moving ride platform and accompanying projections created a genuine theme park experience and perhaps count as IMMERSIUM:WIEN’s highlight.

(Inspiring projections; press photo courtesy of and © IMMERSIUM:Wien)

Paid upgrades to a standard ticket included a short VR ride, a souvenir photo and similar, but I only had time for the basic walkthrough (set aside a good hour for that).

As a fifty-something father of adults, I’m obviously not the core audience for the location. But kids in particular will absolutely love it. The ones in my group were mesmerised.

As such, IMMERSIUM:WIEN makes a worthy addition to Vienna’s offerings for children and families.

Even I found myself waving furiously at a benign walrus and smiling on the ride. And I may have taken the “dance off” a little too seriously given my age. But if you still can’t have fun at 57…

Tickets and tips

A timeslot system operates to ensure smooth passage through the experience. Online tickets guarantee you won’t have to wait for the next timeslot, but you can also buy tickets on site.

You want to be free to move around comfortably, so I suggest putting bags and coats and similar in the lockers available in the entrance area (which also has a shop and access to a small café next door).

The street hosting the attraction might be considered a bit of an immersive hotspot as you have the fun Time Travel tour and Sisi’s Amazing Journey practically next door to IMMERSIUM:WIEN.

So the kids can lose half a day with all the multimedia and VR entertainment around here. For more of that nature in Vienna, try these suggestions.

How to get to IMMERSIUM:WIEN

The fun takes place right in the heart of Vienna, so you might pass nearby on a stroll through the pedestrianised centre.

Subway: the location lies between Herrengasse (U3) and Stephansplatz (U3 and U1) stations.

Bus: the 1A and 2A old town buses both have stops close to here (get out at Habsburgergasse or Graben/Petersplatz).

Address: Habsburgergasse 10, 1010 Vienna | Website

As you wander Vienna, the last thing you expect is a T-Rex with anger management issues.
